DIFFERENT TYPE OF MARRIAGES IN INDIA
India may be a country of various cultures, religions, traditions and rituals. Every city has something new to offer and every state has a whole lot of things that one can enjoy and become a part of. The Indian states have different and unique things to supply from their own culture and tradition. There are a complete on 29 states in India and every one of those states has a special way of living and even loving. |
Wedding is one among the best moments of improving life and in India, you only take it to an entirely different level.
Given below are 10 different types of Indian weddings based on states:
#1. Kerala Weddings & Dress Code:
| The wedding takes place within the house of the bride. Generally, Keralite weddings are held amid a big-scale reception and a huge feast for an outsized number of guests. |
Since Kerala weddings are Malayalam types, the bride wears a Kanjeevaram Saree that is dhoti.
#2. Goa Weddings & Dress Code :
Since Goa's population majorly comprises of Christians, the state is the hottest for its Christian weddings. The state having a number of beaches provides with the best spots for a wedding.
Traditionally, the bride wears an extended gown with a veil while the groom charms the show with a tuxedo. The most important ritual of any Christian wedding is that the bride, walking down the aisle, amid her parent (most usually her father).
#3.Tamil Nadu Weddings & Dress Code:
A Tamil wedding is filled with fun rituals before, during and after the marriage. The main rituals include the Haldi ceremony, sangeet followed by Panda Kaal Muhurtham, Agni Satchi. Post-wedding rituals are a blast!
A Tamil bride wears a Koorai Saree that's traditionally red in colour and therefore the groom wears a dhoti.
#4. Punjab Weddings & Dress Code:

The bride wears an important lehenga that's historically red and golden in color.
A traditional Punjabi / Hindu groom is usually seen throughout a sherwani inbound on a horse to the wedding venue.
#6. Manipur Weddings & Dress Code:
One of the most elegant weddings in the country is a Manipuri wedding. There are functions that include Hinaba, Waraipot puba, Heijapot, etc.
A traditional Manipuri bride wears simple white kurta and dhoti.
#7. Bengal Weddings & Dress Code:
One must attend a Bengali wedding a minimum of once in his / her life. The bride enters on a stool lifted by her brothers followed by the ritual of eye-contact between the groom and therefore the bride.
A traditional Bengali bride wears a Banarasi saree, typically red or green in colour while the groom is wearing off-white. Interestingly, both the bride and therefore the groom wear a crown.
#8.Maharashtra Weddings & Dress Code:
At a Marathi wedding, the bride is escorted by her uncle or father to the aisle and therefore the wedding is amid some interesting rituals that include the Pooja of the groom by the bride's mother and therefore the 'godh bharai' of the bride. #10.Uttar Pradesh Weddings & Dress Code:
Apart from Punjabi weddings, Muslim weddings are highly popular within the state. Weddings in Urdu are called ‘Nikah’ As a sacred ritual, the Nikah is commenced when both the bride and therefore the groom pledge their acceptance of marriage, that is, by saying ‘Qubool Hai!’ The bride wears a sharara and therefore the groom wears a sherwani.
